<abstract>
            The information in this dataset was collected during a campaign made by the biodiversity consultant "BIOSUM", which is in charge of the biodiversity assessment in the Cuenca Marina Austral-1 on shore (CMA-1 on-shore) The campaign was developed in the frame of the preparation of a Biodiversity Action Plan (BAP) for the area. A BAP is a mandatory document each Total Austral´s operational site has to prepare. It compiles conservation actions that then must be implemented. In order to be able to define these conservation actions, a first step is to collect high-quality scientific data of the area to analyze its current biodiversity status. Therefore, a critical habitat and key biodiversity features monitoring was conducted to this end.

                <geographicDescription>The observations were made within the Cañadón Alfa-Ara deposit. This deposit is located in the northeast end of the Tierra del Fuego Great Island, bordering at the east with Chile, at approximately 130 km to the northeast of the locality of Río Grande. Only on-shore territory from said deposit was surveyed in this campaign.</geographicDescription>

                    <para>This campaign included two parts: the first one was the data collection, the second one included the Key Biodiversity Features sensitivity qualification and selection of those who were more sensitive, for a further characterization and definition of possible conservation actions. Maps georeferencing detection points of these Key Biodiversity Features and Key Biodiversity Features interest areas were confectioned. </para>

                        <para>In order to detect Key Biodiversity Features and Critical Habitats in the field, we used the delimitations of the three sectors that came from the diagnosis. In each sector, access roads, infraestructure, landscape units, morphoestructural units, vegetal formations and their spatial location were identified preliminarily.

                    <para>On each of the sites identified, active routes were made, in order to describe the Key Biodiversity Features found and register those that may be more sensitive in the different Critical Habitats of the area. In each sector, areas of interest for conservation were visited. (interior lakes, coastal lakes, grassland and shrubland covered slopes, wandering rocks, shore cliff, estuaries, river, dunes) To test the floristic component, the quadrant and walking transect was used, randomly defined, for low-detectability individuals census.
The faunistic component was surveyed using a combination of methods (vehicular transect census, walking transects, traces search on typical microhabitats, observation stations and traps (both phototrapping and live traps)
In the dataset, there are some abbreviations regarding the different sampling spots. Here the specification of what each abbreviaton means:
E = Wild fauna monitoring station (comes from Estación de monitoreo de fauna silvestre in spanish)
C = Vegetation sampling cuadrant (comes from Cuadrante de muestreo de vegetación in spanish)
VP = Vantage Point
T =Transect
TV = Vehicular transect

Flora Australis: http://conosur.floraargentina.edu.ar/) and Flora Vascular de la República Argentina Zuloaga
y Belgrano, 2015) nomenclature was followed.
The fauna specific identification was made, using the most recent online data bases for their correct nomenclature. In the case of reptiles, Uetz et al. (2023) was followed, for aves Remsen (2024) was followed for the scientific nomenclature and Monteleone y Pagano (2022) for the vernacular names. For the mammals identification, Teta et al. (2024) was followed.
