Geographic Coverage

The surveys were conducted in the coastal area ranging between Cabo Espíritu Santo (Hito 1) and Cabo Domingo. The survey area includes part of the Tierra del Fuego Costa Atlántica Provincial Reserve, which is part of the Natural Areas National System.

Sampling Methods

A total of 34 sampling stations were surveyed, setting a linear transect perpendicular to the shoreline with a 200 strip-width, with the observer standing in the middle, leaving 100 m at each side. On each transect, fauna presence who were making use of the coastal area was registered as well as supratidal and intertidal organisms, both through direct observation or through activity traces such as footprints, burrows, feathers, stool, etc) in the datasets, there are some abbreviations referring to the different sampling spots and type of environment in which the observations was made. Here the meaning behind those abbreviations: Environment AC = Cliff (comes from Acantilados in spanish) PLA -> silty-sandy plain (comes from Planicie Limo-arenosa in spanish) PACR -> boulder and sand beaches (comes from Playas de arena y canto rodado in spanish) PA -> abrassion platform (comes from Plataforma de Abrasión in spanish) BSA -> Saint Sebastian Bay (comes from Bahía San Sebastián in spanish) CD -> Domingo Cape (comes from Cabo Domingo in spanish) There are also in that same column some abbreviations referring to the sampling method. Here are the specification for those abbreviations: E = Wild fauna monitoring station (comes from Estación de monitoreo de fauna silvestre in spanish) C = Vegetation sampling cuadrant (comes from Cuadrante de muestreo de vegetación in spanish) VP = Vantage Point T =Transect TV = Vehicular transect (comes from Transecta vehicular in spanish)

Method step description:

1. On each sampling station, an environmental stratification was conducted, each transect begun in the steppe, away from the coastal area and it extended till the intertidal coastal low tide line.
