Description

La colección comprende ejemplares provenientes del estudio de la vegetación muscinal de Bahía Buen Suceso (54º48'S, 65º15'W) y áreas circundantes obtenidas durante la III campaña estival del Programa Extremo Oriental del Archipiélago Fueguino de 1986 (PEOAF/86) auspiciado por el Museo Territorial de Ushuaia (hoy Museo del Fin del Mundo). Las colectas fueron realizadas por las doctoras Celina Matteri y María Schiavone (Matteri, CM y Schiavone, MM; 1991).

Project Data

Las campañas (1984-1988), abarcaron diferentes campos de las ciencias (sociales y naturales), incorporando profesionales provenientes de distintas instituciones del país y recolectando información y muestras (arqueológicas, biológicas, geológicas) de la Península Mitre recorriendo la misma por sus accesos norte y sur. Durante las exploraciones las investigadoras Celina Materri y María Schiavone obtuvieron unos 600 ejemplares de musgos de los cuales, un juego representativo de especímenes (168 ejemplares) fueron depositados en el Museo del Fin del Mundo, Ushuaia, Argentina. Otros ejemplares obtenidos durante la misma campaña fueron depositados en otros museos del mundo.
