Description

The observations were all made within the CMA-1 on-shore area. Particularly, as the wind farm project was in the surroundings of the Cullen River production plant, the observations were made mostly near them.

Méthodes déchantillonnage
For the Winter Survey developed in August, two methodologies were put into practice: Three Vantage Points (VP) within sector C were defined, where 2 observers stood doing the observations. The sweep angle was 360° with a 2 km reach. 26 hours of observation were done in the three VP, 9,45 hours for VP 1, 9 for VP 2 and 7, 15 for VP 3. During the observations, all the individuals who moved or crossed the area were registered, noting the number of individuals, the direction of the movement, the distance to the observer and the flight height, as well as georeferencing the VP and the climatic conditions during the survey. With the information collected, flight rates were calculated Secondly, a survey through walking transects was conducted: from the 31 transects which were already defined, only 26 of them were surveyed due to climatic conditions (excessive rain) that restricted the access to some transects. In each of the transects, the following data was collected: Biome, Date, Climatic conditions, Geographic location, Species observed or heard, Number of individuals, and observations which any relevant information detected during the observation such as life stage of the individuals, activity they were doing, etc The transects had a maximum strip width of 100 m, with the observer standing in the middle, leaving 50 m on each side, and a 100 to 200 m length, according to the soil characteristics. Spring Survey: In this case, only the walking transect methodology was put into practice but two sets of transects were delimited 24 transects were surveyed from the 31 already georeferenced in the previous campaigns, which had, this time, 100 m width but a length ranging from 200-800 m. For both surveys, the transects were surveyed by two observers during daytime hours for approximately 20 min per transect. n the dataset, there are some abbreviations regarding the different sampling spots. Here the specification of what each abbreviaton means: E = Wild fauna monitoring station (comes from Estación de monitoreo de fauna silvestre in spanish) C = Vegetation sampling cuadrant (comes from Cuadrante de muestreo de vegetación in spanish) VP = Vantage Point T =Transect TV = Vehicular transect (comes from Transecta Vehicular in spanish)
| Etendue de létude | The study was developed as part of the second phase of Total Austral´s Biodiversity Management Plan for their operational sites in the Cuenca Marina Austral- 1 on-shore operational area. The phase is called Biodiversity Action Plan Design. In this phase, the consultant does and environmental baseline in order to collect reliable scientific data on the Biodiversity status of the site. This is made with the objective of later on design appropiate biodiversity conservation actions to be implemented in the site. This study is a Birdlife survey campaign, carried away in a particular sector of the site that has been identified in a former Biodiversity Diagnosis as the most sensitive sector of the Cuenca Marina Austral-1 on-shore for Birdlife due to existence of a heliport and a wind farm project in development. This dataset includes observations from two different campaigns: one developed during the winter season (15th to 19th of August 2024) and one developed during spring (21th to 25th November 2024) |

| Contrôle qualité | The observations were done in different temporal ranges to ensure temporal representativeness in all VPs. The observations were made between 8 am and 6 pm. |
Description des étapes de la méthode:
- For the Two observers stood in a certain VP and did observations with a duration between 1 and 1:30 hours.
