El Instituto de Investigaciones en Recursos Naturales, Agroecología y Desarrollo Rural (IRNAD) es una Unidad Ejecutora de doble dependencia de la Universidad Nacional de Río Negro y el Consejo Nacional de Investigaciones Científicas y Técnicas. Creado en 2015 y con sede en las ciudades de San Carlos de Bariloche y El Bolsón, la misión del IRNAD consiste en “Realizar investigaciones orientadas al conocimiento de los recursos naturales, su estado de conservación y posibilidades de aprovechamiento sustentable, a la comprensión de la estructura y dinámica de los agroecosistemas y su respuesta frente a diferentes prácticas de manejo, así como las dinámicas territoriales”. En este contexto, varios proyectos en los que participan integrantes del Instituto contribuyen al material de la Colección de Entomología.
